PhotoCopier App Reviews

Quite bad!

The application was installed on a 64GB un-jailbroken iPad which contains no particularly “fancy” software to get in the way. It has consistently crashed after attempting to load a jpeg image. It is barely imaginable that any reputable software developer would release such trash... but apparently they did. Rigorously tested? I think not. The cost of the app is trivial but given this is the first app I’ve ever purchased that has bombed 100% of the time, if there were a way to “go after” the developer or participate in a class action suit, I would. I used to read reviews and shake my head when someone would go off about some app. Well, I think I understand now.

LOVE THIS APP!

I use several graphics apps. I was interested in this app as soon as I saw it. Installed it. Used it..a lot! Loved it! Still love it! There are a wide variety of great presets to choose from. And it is impossible to permanently alter the presets by accident! Great feature! The app also lets you quickly switch between the original photo and the altered photo. Just tap a little lightning bolt icon. Nice! This app works exactly as advertised. A great quality. For $1.99, you cannot go wrong with this app.

Has some great filters but slow to use....

There are alot of great filter mods but the names of the filters and the tiny thumbnail preview doest really give you much to see before applying the filter. So youre left some some approximation of what you are applying, Then the effect takes a few seconds to render. Then, if you want to see other options, its back to the long list of options to select again. It would be a better user experience if one could open the pic to be modified, select a category (ie. movies, paintings, photos, processes), then have the user swipe to apply the next filter effect. Of course, this would also require a much faster processing as well. Overall, $1.99 is a decent price, but...its a little slow to use, which caused me to continue my search for another photo editing app.

Photocopier

This app does everything it claims it can do. Its simple, creates mood setting images and is well integrated with Iphoto. Some reviews claim it crashes consistently. I have discovered that larger 3 megabyte plus JPEGS cause it to crash. I downsize the images to 1 megabyte or less and that has solved this issue. I would highly recommend this app for creative amateur photographers.

"Its a rip-off..."

There is much more implied by the concept of the app than it can possibly deliver. Nothing you can take a photo of will look remotely like, or feel remotely like the artist whose painting is shown as a filter. It would be nice if the images were manipulated not only in color and tone but with paint styles, sort of like the vector approach the studioMee does with PaintMee, a much more interesting app in my humble opinion as a photographer/darkroom enthusiast since 1961 and painter since my years at Pratt Institute Brooklyn in the early to mid 70s. The sales team did a good job of letting the buyer infer that the algorithms are far more sophisticated than they actually are. But considering the price, in this case you definitely get exactly what you pay for...yet another lame color and tone filter. As a fine artist Id be insulted by this app more if it were presented any more seriously or cost more than it does. Please, why do we need this kind of deceptive advertising? The examples photos are a pretty safe indicator of just how little this app does compared to its lofty aspirations. I wonder how it got through the Apple Stores rules and regs while a really inventive company like studioMee has to revise and work harder just to get there next free update out to us??

Super duper!!

Ok, first off, the app doesnt claim to turn your pix into a work of art. Its claim is that it replicates the light, color, texture and various nuances of paintings, photos and movies and IMO it does a really fantastic job!!! Any app that has a sample of EJ Bellocqs Storyville photos of red light district ladies is just awesome!! I am a pro photographer, operating a studio for the last 20+ years, have seen a lot of exhibitions of the sampled photographers work and I think this app does a great job applying those "looks" in your image!! No, its not going to turn you into an Atget but at least youll have the color and look of his work. I agree with a previous reviewer....you put crap in, crap comes out:) I dont think the app is misleading the buyers in any way. Thanks to the devs for putting in some of my favorite 19th & early 20th century photogs...obviously these devs are educated about art and photography!!:)

Great app!

Great app! Yes, do ignore some of the negative reviews as it seems obvious those ppl do not understand the app and are looking for more of what they are used to. Id describe this as a fairly sophisticated app with an overly simplified interface. Very nice effects. As a pro photog who uses iPhone & iPad for casual personal work I find this app is excellent for specific textures, color palettes and looks while I typically use other apps for borders and specific edits. Cant beat the price either! As a side note it helps with learning about famous artists, their work and techniques.

Wasted my money

As a photographer, I should have known better but bought this app against my better judgement. Save your money or buy something like filterstorm or photo toaster. This is just another filter app and not a good one at that.

Great app!

Fantastic app. Gives you lots of very creative options. Thanks very much!

Very interesting effects

If you are looking for a more subtle effects capability, this is it. It allows you to add a particular look to your photo based on movies, paintings, and photos. You have a tremendous range to choose from, and can adjust the color, texture, and vignette. The duotone option is great It saves high res. images and I have had no problems with my 4s. I find the movies to be least interesting, but the pictures and photos are the ones I am using. The problem is choosing among all the options: at this point, I just have to try them out. This is a great alternative to all the usual iPhone effects apps.

Desperately Needs an Update

Hasnt been updated since 2010! Where did the developers go? Would just like to see this app updated a bit to show that its developers havent abandoned it. This app is a fantastic texturing tool that adds just the right bit of oomph to an otherwise plain photo. It has a crap-ton of filters to choose from ranging from Movies to Paintings to duplicating retro Photos. The filters are applied quickly (no need to go to the bathroom or heat up some popcorn) and are easily customizable through a slider adjustment. Adjust color, tone, texture, grain and more. This app is the PhotoFX of textures. One of my favorite and most used apps. I highly recommend it. A good tip for using this app is to apply a filter, but then slide the Color, Tone and Brightness filters all the way to the left (to restore to the original photos settings). You keep the feel of the original photo, but have that wonderful texture.

THE FILTERS ARE TERRIBLE!

Just a bunch of repetitive squiggles, jagged lines, etc., trying to be passed off as a Van Gogh or Monet effect. This was a COMPLETE waste of money. I have a ton of apps and Im very familiar with how to use them so ignore the people saying that its because those that dont like the app simply dont know how to use it.

Phenomenal

Genius program. Clearly NOT just a bunch of filters. It serves me best when I shoot with intent to use this app. Results are magical if well thought out. Intention + Photocopier = Magic. Many thanks to the developers for making me take a few steps back and remember why I love taking pictures.

Just Wondering

Why is it that this very useful app costs $1.99 when purchased for iPad or IPhone, but sets one back $29.99 when bought as Photo Copy as an app for an iMac. I know that, traditionally, app for computers proper are pricier than the same or similar apps for iPad or iPhone, usually about double the cost, sometimes triple. But here it is 15 times more expensive. Will someone explain this disparity to me?

Randomizer doesnt work

Its kind of a cool concept and as a digital artist, sometimes I like new random inspiration and was hoping to find that here. Unfortunately the randomize button does nothing. Also would like controls for saturation, sharpness and other precision control sliders. But for 99 cents, you get what you get... Does have potential if fixed, especially the randomize button. (iPad 3) it would be great to have the ability for a greater amount of fine tuning as well as the ability to randomize. Hopefully by next version....

One of my favorites!

This is one of the few one button filter apps that I use, and I am delighted to see that it has been updated for iOS7!

Love it!

This is one of my favorite apps for adding some texture to my edits! It does an amazing job and offers so many options. Like that there are also adjustable sliders for each filter. Only wish I would put forward would be a way to save my favorite filter adjustments...to make it easier to quickly get to the ones I use most often. That would make this app very stellar!!

Vital App to My Workflow

And will save NOTHING in iOS 8.0. Rebooting, restarting, hard rebooting, closing apps, allotting disk space and memory... NOTHING.

Unbelievable!

What an awesome app! And for only $1.00! Are you kidding me? This app is worth $10.00 or more! Dont miss it!

An underrated under appreciated gem.

This is a favorite app of mine that I frequently use for the final stages of processing an image. I do mainly black-and-white work, and when used subtly, this app is wonderful for adding a final touch of grain, texture, and toning, helping to give it a bit of an analog feel. Unfortunately the most recent update was back in 2014, so this isnt working quite as well with the latest iOS and my iPhone 6s. I really hope the developers will stay on top of this one because its a a real gem and Id hate to see it become incompatible and eventually disappear.
